What is PowerPress
PowerPress is revolutionizing pumping iron. An innovative technology for a safer, more effective workout for powerlifters and fitness buffs. Allows fitness clubs to easily upgrade existing equipment, providing their members with a fun, new upper body work-out experience. Licensing opportunities are available.
What is the PowerPress advantage over traditional barbells, dumbells and bar equipment?
For flat and incline bench presses, PowerPress loads the entire chest, including the weak spots of most strength trainers and body-builders: the inner and upper pectoralis muscle origins near the sternum, clavicle, upper costals, and external obliques.
For both in-front and behind-the-head shoulder presses, PowerPress intensely engages more of the shoulder muscle group, evenly loading the anterior, middle, and posterior deltoid fibres, along with the trapezius and other minor muscles.
PowerPress delivers this optimized training effect while requiring 50% less weight, minimizing strain on upper body joints and tissue. Powerlifters who typically press over 500 lbs, can obtain a superior work-out using less than 250 lbs with PowerPress. The average person will experience the most compete chest and shoulder workout with less than 100lbs on the bar.

Has PowerPress been tested?
PowerPress has undergone a variety of testing and trials throughout the product development process. During its prototyping phase, PowerPress was tested by many target users including; Strongmen, Body Builders and weight training professionals. Their feedback resulted in tweaks to the design, look and feel of the PowerPress.
In the fall 2012, the PowerPress prototype was launched for intensive testing at the 100% Raw National Bench Pressevent, where documented footage of hands-on trials of the PowerPress was conducted with members of Canada’s professional Bench Press and fitness communities.
The PowerPress was received with rave reviews. Testimonials and comments from some of the team members include:
1) Curd Hos, Champion Powerlifter & Owner, Hos-Style Training
“PowerPress is amazing. It’s so intense with such little weight on the bar. PowerPress delivers a much more complete chest and shoulder workout than I ever get with a barbell or set of dumbbells.”
“It feels like its 400 pounds but its only 175lbs.”
“Big advantage for me is that I can feel myself working deeper into the muscle fiber and the PowerPress helps me think about the movement at the same time.”
2) Yves Drouin, Professional Wrestler and Strongman
“The dumbbell press alone wastes a lot of energy but with the PowerPress, you take 2min minutes and you’re back at it.”
“What I like is it doesn’t affect the front deltoids at all during chest exercises.”
“I feel, it a lot in the upper. Need to concentrate on your weakness and for most body builders its upper chest. It is so different from the incline press. This will bring me to the next level – when can I get one of these?!”
What are the Advantages of PowerPress?
◦ more complete and effective chest workout, much safer than heavy barbell and dumbbell exercises
◦ works the entire pec intensely, including the inner pec insertions that are difficult to work with other exercises – “full pec pump”
◦ works the upper and inner chest that is the weak spot of most body builders
◦ intense workout with much less weight – someone who incline presses 400+ lbs gets an intense full pec workout using less than 150 lbs
◦ everything is focused on loading the muscle rather than lifting the weight – brings chest training to the next level
◦ much less stress placed on shoulder joints or front deltoids
◦ you feel the difference within a couple of reps
vs. barbell press:
◦ adds inner pec workout by squeezing
◦ safer work out with much less weight with less stress on deltoids and other body parts
vs. dumbbell flys:
◦ no energy wasted getting dumbbells into position
◦ better squeeze at the end
vs. pec deck:
◦ lift plus squeeze works entire pec more effectively
◦ stabilizing the free weight works more completely than a machine

Are there any competitive or similar products to PowerPress?
No. The Power Press is truly an innovation for gyms and fitness equipment.
Revolutionary in the world of fitness technology, PowerPress is an ingenious grip adapter that transforms the ancient barbell into a safer, more effective workout system. PowerPress dramatically upgrades the barbell by enabling the lifter’s hands to slide together in a balanced, ergonomic motion during a press, intensely loading more muscle using less than half of the usual weight. It enables body-builders, power-lifters, and athletes to take their chest, shoulder and tricep training to the next level while virtually eliminating risk of strain or injury – which can sideline training and take hours of massage therapy to repair.
PowerPress’ patent-pending BioKinetic Controller is a bio-mechanically engineered double-rack-and-pinion innovation that guarantees perfectly balanced, ergonomic motion for the safest, most effective and complete workout possible. PowerPress transforms the straight up-and-down action of the barbell press into a natural arc that safely maximizes loading of the target muscle groups. This helps repair and build strong foundations for your main muscle groups.

Fitness equipment market in North America is a $3B industry. It is driven by the demand from health clubs for innovative new equipment that will attract and retain members. To defend their market share, manufacturers must constantly introduce new products that users love but they struggle to innovate and are currently plagued with high warranty and product liability costs. There is large opportunity to provide the top manufacturers with licensable designs for new products that are extremely effective, reliable and safe-to-use.
Muscle Engineering is a unique, innovative design force that is combining the science of exercise with world-class industrial design and engineering to create innovative products for license to the industry’s top manufacturers.

“PowerPress is unbelievable. With less than half of the weight I usually press, I get the most complete pec-pump ever, especially in my inner and upper chest where regular presses and flys just can’t reach. And working with such a light weight, I don’t have to worry about injury.” – Yves “Steel Warrior” Drouin… World-class strongman competitor

PowerPress™ was developed by Muscle Engineering Inc., a collaboration between Ottawa inventor, Guy Murray and Design 1st Product Development, a highly innovative product design and engineering company. As a new, leading edge fitness technology, PowerPress’ patent-pending BioKinetic Controller is a bio-mechanically engineered double-rack-and-pinion innovation that guarantees perfectly balanced, ergonomic motion for the safest, most effective and complete workout possible.
PowerPress transforms the straight up-and-down action of the barbell press into a natural arc that safely maximizes loading of the target muscle groups. Well-known as a personal trainer, Guy has worked with several champion body builders, power lifters and strongman competitors as well as Hollywood celebrities, such as Glenn Close and Jeremy Irons. PowerPress was conceived out of Guy’s frustration as he watched his clients perform risky barbell and dumbbell exercises that could not work the entire group of chest and shoulder muscles in an intense yet, balanced and safe manner.
